Both artist and product managers have to deal with an overwhelming number of creative, technical and business affairs on a daily basis. Their best ability resides in truly understanding everything that is going on around them, as well as being able to oversee diverse tasks and address multiple issues. Consequently, in Product and Artist Management, I was introduced to the fundamentals of a wide variety of topics involving music publishing, merchandising, commercials, sponsorships, integrated marketing communications, artist career plan and image, and development deals, among others.
One of the most valuable skills that this course allowed me to develop is the ability to understand and oversee contracts, trademarks, and copyrights. Furthermore, I was given the opportunity to combine all the knowledge acquired by elaborating and presenting a comprehensive product-development plan for a specific entertainment company.
